Urban Retreat - Empowered Alignment

For those tired and stressed nervous systems. You have a busy demanding job ( being a parents too) Just in need of a little time out from the hustle and bustle. Come and recharge your mind, body and soul for a fill morning of chill out time. You will put your body through its paces in a challenging and fun yoga session then take things right down to a full body and senses relaxation.

BOOK YOUR MAT HERE

During your day you will have the opportunity to reset your system.

We will begin the day with a challenging Vinyasa Flow Asana (posture) practice with a few arm balances and inversions thrown in, followed by Pranayam then yoga Nidra and ending with a Gong bath.

There are many benefits to taking some time out to allow the nervous system to settle and for you to really do an assessment of your life, especially living in such a stressful city and busy lifestyle:-


Schedule for the day

10:00am - Meet, Set-up & Intros

10:05am - Yoga Asana - challenging and but fun practice

11:30am - Pranayam (Breathe Control)

12:00pm - Yoga Nidra and Gong Bath

1:00pm - Walk in Southwark park and journalling

1.30pm - Lunch which includes either a glass of Prosecco or Smoothie

2:30pm - Farewells and Depart

Asanas (Postures)

Asanas are performed to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. The use of breathing and focus can help relieve stress and anxiety. The poses are not meant to simply be physical exercises but rather used holistically as a mind-body practice to improve physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Pranayama

Pranayama uses the breath to direct and expand the flow of prana in our energy channels - the nadis. Swami Satyananda Saraswati describes the techniques as providing:

“...the method whereby the life force [prana] can be activated or regulated in order to go beyond one’s normal boundaries or limitations and attain a higher state of vibratory energy and awareness.”

"When we practise pranayama the veil is gradually drawn away from the mind and there is growing clarity. The mind becomes ready for deep meditation" (yoga sutra 2.52)

So by practising pranayama we are clearing the obstacles in our bodies, allowing breath and energy (prana) to flow freely. Our breathing is improved, our bodies function better and we clear and calm the mind.


Yoga Nidra

They say 20 minutes of yoga nidra equates to 1hr of sleep. It is a great stress buster and deep relaxation. Its practical and easy to do and creates the deep rest and relaxation required for good health, mental peace and higher awareness

IMPROVED MEMORY
While their mind is engaged during yogic sleep, some yogis will play a recording of material they’d like to learn. With yoga nidra, the mind will be fully aware to absorb the teachings.

THERAPY
Yoga nidra is being used to treat those suffering from trauma and addictions. It’s used to calm, refresh, and bring relief to those who may otherwise be unable to relax.

PROBLEM SOLVING
Sometimes the answers to our most pressing questions are hidden in our unconscious. Yoga nidra gives us the gift of accessing buried thoughts and delivering them to the conscious mind.

HEALING
The relaxing aspects of yoga nidra can strengthen your immune system and reduce stress.

UNDERSTANDING
Swami Rama taught that yoga nidra supports and strengthens meditation. Not only does yoga nidra help you understand yourself better, but it also helps you understand your meditative practice better as well.

CREATIVITY
Some of the greatest works of art have been inspired by the unconscious mind. Yoga nidra allows us to tap into that creative centre and pull it into the conscious world


Gong Bath

a Sound Bath is an immersion in beautiful sounds and vibrations that are healing for your body, mind and spirit. A Sound Bath is a deeply relaxing, meditative experience which can take you on a journey of deep relaxation, healing and self discovery. This is wonderful for any stressed out soul.
